This project is about an electrical HVDC interconnector, with an approximate capacity of 1000 MW, which will allow transfer of electrical power between the high voltage grid systems of Belgium and the United Kingdom. It will consist of 2 x AC-DC converter stations (in UK and Belgium) linked with 2 x 400 Kv DC XPLE cables stretching approximately 140km between the two countries.

The subsea cable will be installed in two phases. The first phase is the installation in the UK section and it will take place in 2017. The second phase is the installation in the Belgium section and will be done in 2018. The two cables will be spliced together to form the final interconnector during the 2018 campaign.

The Greenfish consultant is working in the offshore activities of the cable installation. To succeed in the installation, many activities have to be undertaken such as pUXO investigation, dredging, pre-sweeping, cable installation and many more.

In order to make sure that the project meets the planning and budget the delivery team needs to follow up closely all the activities performed by their subcontractors. The Greenfish consultant assists in the follow up and management of the operations, in the research of qualified subcontractors and ensures that there is a strong Quality, Health, Safety & Environment (QHSE) performance.
