In light of the European Week for Waste Reduction (EWWR), we have organised various endeavours, such as the Zero-Waste week, and shared several Waste Reduction Tips every day.

The European Week for Waste Reduction is an initiative aiming to promote the implementation of awareness-raising actions about sustainable resource and waste management during one single week. It encourages a wide range of audiences (public authorities, private companies, civil society as well as citizens themselves) to get involved. The main objectives of this action is to raise awareness about weekly reductions, highlight the work accomplished by the EWWRparticipants, mobilise and encourage European citizens to focus on four key action themes and, fine-tune and strengthen EWWR stakeholders’ capacities by providing them with targeted communication tools and training.

As this is perfectly in line with our values, we set up waste reduction activities in our Greenfish office and at home! This opportunity to implement zero-waste in our daily lives and exploring ways to do it prefectly matches our Greenfish mindset. It is thus quite natural that our company took part in the campaign and engaged in zero-waste initiatives to inspire our collaborators to have a greener way of life. As an environmental consulting company, it is in our DNA to care for our planet. All of us at Greenfish care for the environment and wish to contribute to a greener world.

There are different levels of actions for green living, but even small ones can changes everything. Whether you are a vegetarian, or you already make all your products at home, here is the 5 R’s formula we used at Greenfish to oranise our workshops: 5 steps closer to a simpler and more sustainable lifestyle:

  • REFUSE what you don’t need – straws, plastic containers or cutlery, another single-use coffee cup, etc.
  • REDUCE what you do need – reduce the time in the shower, your meat/fish consumption, etc.
  • REUSE by using reusables – shopping bags, coffee mugs, containers, second hand clothes, etc.
  • RECYCLE what you can’t refuse, reduce, or reuse – food, medicine, packaging, etc.
  • ROT the rest by finding a compost system – your food leftovers, coffee grounds, etc.

On the 22nd of November, our Zero-Waste worskhops and Spaghetti Evening started at 06:30pm with a Zero-Waste presentation, before dividing everyone into workshop groups. We were able to choose between 4 different informative zero-waste workshops:

-Brewing your beer from bread
-Sewing your own shopping bag
-Prepare your own personal care products
-How to fix your bike?

After participating into these enlightening workshops, we all gathered for a Zero-Waste homemade spaghetti dinner. You might know that Greenfish is participating in the 100 KM Run Against Cancer on March 24th, 2019. Our 5 brave runners need our help to collect the amount of 2.500 EUR to validate their participation in the run. Greenfishers were able to donate the amount of their choice for this excellent dinner!
